City to Offer Free Water Kits Friday
On City Hall Plaza
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA The City of Charlottesville announced today that
it will offer area residents *free* water conservation kits from *11am until
2pm at City Hall Plaza, Friday, January 23rd*. This will be on a first-come,
first-served basis and in the event of bad weather the program will be moved
into the front lobby of City Hall. The kits are part of an ongoing program
through the Public Works Water Department and the Finance Department's
Office of Utility Billing where thousands of kits have been offered through
the years to households as a contribution to the City's ongoing commitment
to community water conservation. Here is what is included in these free
kits:
*The indoor kit contains:*
· A self cleaning, massaging showerhead with soak and soap on/off valve.
Showerhead has a flow rate of 2.35 gallons per minute (GPM) or less at 80
pounds per square inch (PSI), and less than 1.9 GPM at 20 PSI in the soak
mode, and a flow rate of 1.5 GPM at 80 PSI or less in the soap mode.
· A swivel head variable dual setting kitchen faucet aerator. Aerator has a
flow rate of 2.2 GPM at 80 PSI.
· A dual thread bathroom faucet aerator. Aerator has a flow rate of 1.5 GPM
at 80 PSI.
· A maintenance free toilet tank displacement bag.
· A package of 2 toilet leak detection dye tablets.
· A drip gauge for calculating the flow of leaking faucets.
· A roll of extra heavy duty Teflon tape.
